April Ross
April Ross was one of just a handful of women beach volleyball athletes who earned medals at several Olympics. Ross will compete in Tokyo for her 3rd Olympic medal with Alix Klineman who is a first-time Olympian. In addition, Ross is aiming to capture her first Olympic gold. There is a chance that she has one chance at winning, as she's 39 old. She remains optimistic that she can achieve top honors. If we do our top or play well I feel like we'll win the gold medal Ross declared on NBC Boston. Also, I'll take the chance to have chances. Ross was born August 22nd, 1982 at Costa Mesa California. She resided there along with her entire family. At Newport Harbor High School, she played in a variety of activities. She competed in basketball and track in addition to her indoor volleyball achievements as a pre-collegiate athlete. She was definitely the best at the sport of indoor volleyball. Her college biography states that she was an outside-hitting hitter, middle blocker, as well as a setter during her volleyball career in high school. As a tribute to her efforts she was awarded the Gatorade Award for the National Player of 1999. The skills she showed in volleyball also earned her an Orange County Athlete of the Awards in 2000. Although Ross Klineman and Ross are in the spotlight from 2017 onward, the former had already been a major player on the beach scene long before their pairing. Actually Ross has won a number of important tournaments throughout her career with two partners. One of them is a legend. Jennifer Kessy was her partner for six years, from 2007 to the year 2013. She also worked with Klineman and herself. Kessy was Ross's partner on the World Championships of 2009. In 2012, the pair took silver in London's Olympic Games. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the group that could take home the gold. It was fate that had them. Ross turned out to be Walsh Jennings' new partner as May-Treanor stepped down. Both went on to win the bronze beach volleyball medal at Rio Olympics 2016. They were joined by Walsh Jennings. Ross competed for USC Trojans throughout her college the years prior to her professional career. This was an impressive career for Ross in the university. In 2000 she was named Pac-10 Freshman as well as NCAA Freshman of the Year. She was also named an All-American. In addition, she helped her Trojans to make it to the Final Four. The second season of her career she suffered a devastating personal loss and still earned the distinction of being an All-American. In the two years she played for the Trojans they helped win consecutive championships. For her part, she cemented her place in the history books by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This award was given to the top female volleyball players at colleges across the United States. Ross studied international relations at USC. Margie Ross was not able to witness Ross become the highest beach volleyball level. Ross's mother died of cancer of the breast in 2001. Ross had just become an undergraduate student in the second year at USC. However, she continues to remember her deceased parent close and dear. Also, Margie is an ongoing source of encouragement for her on the beaches and throughout life.
